RUNNING FOR ROBERT 5K AUGUST 12, 2012

Robert A. Lasso was born December 10, 1979 in Allentown, PA. He graduated from Freedom High School in 1999, attended Northampton Community College and was a 2001 graduate of the Allentown Police Academy.
Even as a young boy, Robert truly enjoyed helping others and he always wanted to be in law enforcement. Robert was a true family man. When he wasn't helping others at work, he was spending quality time with his wife of 8 years and their two children (ages 7 & 4). Robert loved teaching his daughter, Rose how to ride a bike with two wheels this summer and taking Frank into the ocean for the first time. In addition to family trips to the beach, park and zoo; Robert loved spending time with family and friends. He was constantly joking around with everyone and was always seen with a smile on his face. Robert’s other favorite thing to do was work on restoring his 1976 Pontiac Firebird.
Robert joined the Freemansburg Police Department as a part-time officer in 2002 and became a full-time officer in 2004. While at Freemansburg, Robert would work at community events in order to show police officers in a positive light. In 2009, Robert was awarded the Freemansburg Officer of the Year Award. Robert also worked hard to form Freemansburg’s first Policeman’s Association.
On August 11, 2011, Robert responded to a call in reference to a reckless driver. Robert arrived to question the driver when two dogs attacked him. The home owner then shot threw the door, striking Robert in the back of his head. Robert died instantly at the scene.
