PHILADELPHIA 4 ALARM CHURCH FIRE

Philadelphia, Pa-- 4 alarm East Oak Lane @ N. 12th St.

A fire destroyed the Saint Mary Protectress Ukrainian Orthodox Church located in North Philly at East Oak Lane and North 12th Street. Engine 63 arrived and reported heavy smoke showing from a 2 story church 75x100. Companies placed 2&2 in service and had difficulty trying to locate the seat of the fire. Battalion Chief 2 placed all hands in service along with several hand lines. Command reported heavy fire conditions through the roof and the entire building. Companies evacuated the church and requested the second alarm. Companies placed in service their heaviest water lines along with multiple ladder pipes, third and fourth alarm companies were requested to assist with water supply and manpower.
